Accelerating Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7-based Linux Containers with Solarflare OpenOnload | April 2015
This paper provides installation, configuration and tuning guidance for Docker containers running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Solarflare OpenOnload network acceleration. It introduces container-related enhancements specific to Red Hat’s distribution, such as the atomic utility, the implementation of “super-privileged containers” (SPC) and heavily builds upon the Low Latency Performance Tuning Guide for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Finally, it provides a comparison of OpenOnload-accelerated bare metal network latency tests versus OpenOnload-accelerated Linux containers.
10Gb Ethernet: The Foundation for Low-Latency, Real-Time
Financial Services Applications and Other, Latency-Sensitive
Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent 10 Gigabit Ethernet
(10GbE) networking software and hardware, and Arista Networks,
the leading vendor of ultra-low latency 10GbE and cloud networking
solutions, recently completed low-latency switch and adapter testing.
The two companies collaborated to address the growing need for
low-latency, high-performance 10GbE switch-to-server solutions
for high-frequency trading and other demanding applications, such
as public clouds, virtualization and big data.
Red Hat Performance Brief: Using Solarflare OpenOnload to Achieve Extreme Low Latency on RHEL 6 | June 2012
This paper examines the performance characteristics of the Solarflare OpenOnload technology on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.
OpenOnload® is a high performance network stack from Solarflare that dramatically reduces latency and CPU utilization, and increases message rate and bandwidth.
Cisco and Solarflare Joint Solution: Deliver Highly Accurate Time Synchronization for Financial Trading Applications | April 2012
The capability to build and maintain a synchronized, accurate timing solution is the basis for successful provisioning and management of high-performance trading networks and applications. Using IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol (PTP) products, the Cisco Nexus® 3000 Series Switches and Solarflare SFN5322F 10 Gigabit Ethernet server adapter together can deliver a highly accurate precision time synchronization solution to high-frequency-trading applications within existing network infrastructure with no need to invest in and deploy a separate timing network.
Major International Market-Maker Migrates to Solarflare 10GbE Precision Time Protocol For Server Time Synchronization | April 2012
A proprietary trading unit of an international liquidity provider required high precision time synchronization between hosts within each colocation center across globally distributed sites. The financial firm’s goal was to enable better precision time stamping on recorded market data to facilitate accurate retrospective simulation and to optimize its quantitative high frequency trading operation. Over the years this firm worked with timing solutions from several manufacturers, but until it evaluated Solarflare, no other product provided high performance, high precision, and ease of use for a high density server environment.
Global Investment Bank Deploys Solarflare 10GbE PTP Server Adapters | Feb 2012
One of the world's largest investment banks needed to distribute time synchronization to financial transaction servers co-located at worldwide exchanges. Its challenge was to utilize Precision Time Protocol (PTP, a.k.a. IEEE 1588) technology from available ecosystem components that would allow it to deploy remotely. The firm chose Solarflare's SFN5322F server adapter to simplify and optimize its time synchronization deployments.
High Performance Trading - FIX Messaging Testing for Low Latency | Jan
FIX is the de-facto standard protocol used extensively for electronic communication between trade-side and execution venues, where the performance requirements of algorithmic and high frequency trading are extreme and or the benefits of STP (straight through processing) are sought from electronic connectivity.
