Custom Compute Innovation Awards
Members of the The Solarflare University Program are eligible to enter the competition for the Custom Compute Innovation Awards. The Awards are designed to encourage and reward research, innovation, and application development in the field of Custom Compute using the Solarflare open AOE platform. Research areas for the Awards include electronic trading, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), data loss prevention, signal processing, encryption/decryption, high performance computing, and video/digital media.
The Awards competition is open to any student or university researcher who is a member of the Solarflare University Program and is targeted at members of computer science and computer engineering departments. Submissions can be made by individuals or group of up to four members, and must be supervised by a faculty member. There is no entry fee or limit on the number of entries from a single university.
The Innovation Awards is divided into four categories with winners awarded in each of the following categories:
- Best application or tool set (Open Source or FreeBSD) running on an AOE — ($10,000)
- Best academic paper by a graduate, post graduate or university researcher published in journal or presented at a technical conference using AOE as a research platform — ($5,000)
- Best poster presented at a technical conference by a graduate student using AOE as a research platform — ($2500)
- Best poster presented at a technical conference by an undergraduate student using AOE as a research platform — ($2500)
