Solarflare Receives 2010 Best of Irvine Award
Leader in 10 Gigabit Ethernet Recognized for Business Success
IRVINE, Calif. – January 18, 2011 – Solarflare, the company pioneering 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE), today announced it has been selected for the 2010 Best of Irvine Award in the Electronic Computers category by the US Commerce Association (USCA). The USCA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
In 2010, Solarflare did the following: Introduced its branded high-performance, power-efficient, ultra-low latency 10GbE server adapters and an SFP+ transceiver module; brought in a new vice president of engineering and vice president of sales for the Western US; demonstrated record-breaking performance results with vendors such as Arista, BLADE, Cisco, Citrix, Cloudsoft, Intel and Solace; sampled the industry’s first 40nm quad-port 10GBASE-T PHY chip; and launched a value added reseller program to increase customer reach. According to a published report by analyst firm Dell’Oro, Solarflare more than doubled market share from 1.2% to 2.6% between January and June 2010 to become the fastest-growing 10GbE server adapter vendor in the market.
"Solarflare has been headquartered in Irvine since 2001 and we're proud to be a recipient of the 2010 USCA award," said Russell Stern, CEO at Solarflare. "It was a great year for us and we're looking forward to continuing our successes in 2011."
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2010 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and data provided by third parties.
